Create Meaningful Social Media Connections
Let’s face it, when students are not happy with food service and quality in their café, they are going to tell the world, and so they should. This level of connectivity has provided the basis for how Dana Hospitality has been disrupting and overhauling higher education dining rooms across Canada in recent years. After all, transforming the food service experience, every day, is our brand belief and corporate reason for being.
Connecting students to culinary teams helps build trusted relationships. However, these connections no longer have to be restricted to the walls of the university’s cafeteria. Every day students are reaching out to our chefs and managers and getting real answers to their questions. This is done through a “Talk Show” concept where our managers engage the student body’s feedback. They are also able to see the scratch cooking process through “behind the scenes” videos. Transparency and communication is the bedrock of our engagement philosophy.
As each semester and school year brings in new students, our on-site student engagement and social media coordinators refresh their content calendars with topics that are relevant and specific to each school. While the content created for schools is different for business cafés, it is clear that keeping the local community updated with on-site relevant topics and promotions is the key to attracting robust engagement rates.
Insights and Trends for 2020:
- Education will continue to receive the highest usage on social media, however creating social connections in business and industry cafés is becoming more prolific
- Promoting giveaways that are aligned to Dana Hospitality’s brand continue to trend upwards
- Creating promotion schedules to complement each cafés content calendars will continue to develop Social Media engagement as a way to pivot customer feedback into real on-site offerings and enhancements to the guest experience.
